As in most of the rooms in Cardiff Castle the fireplace decoration is beautiful, but for me the tiled frieze is just so lovely and dominates the room. William Burges designed the frieze, a procession of charactures from childrens stories.
The frieze was made in 1879, painted by H W Lonsdale and made by Maw & Co
In the mornings the children would do their lessons in the day nursery.
