As well as being a lovely natural setting, the Crimple Valley is a very appealing locality from an architectural point of view. There are several listed buildings in the valley and many other traditional sandstone houses and farms with traditional stone slate roofs. The magnificent early nineteenth century Grade II* listed railway viaduct spans the Crimple Valley near Pannal, and is a well known landmark.
