Due to the weather this year, these are the first lambs I have seen. The Lamb is a powerful image in many Pre Raphaelite works, such as John Millais’ The Lost Sheep. It appears in Pre Raphaelite paintings such as The Pretty Baa Lambs by Ford Madox Brown; Found by Dante Gabriel Rossetti; Our English Coasts (Strayed Sheep) and The Hireling Shepherd by William Holman Hunt and Mending the Sheep Pen by William Henry, to mention just a few! Then of, course, there are the numerous stained glass windows by Edward Burne Jones and William Morris depicting the Lamb of God.
Lambs in the fields around Kirkby Lonsdale, in the beautiful Lune Valley, Lancashire.
