Standen , East Grinstead, is a most wonderful Arts and Crafts house. It was built in 1892–4 for James Beale, by the celebrated Arts and Crafts architect Philip Webb, who famously completed the Red House for William Morris in 1860.
The old buildings already on the site were preserved and so as you walk to the house across Goose Green you pass the beautiful Hollybush Farm which was built around 1450.The barn is from the 17th century.
