Jeremy Deller: English Magic

17th October 2014

From the 11th October until the 11th January, Jeremy Deller: English Magic will be at Turner Contemporary Margate to showcase their exhibition. The Turner Contemporary is touring the UK to show off their exhibit which will include a number of JMW Turner’s paintings, and a selection of John Ruskin’s drawings from The Stones of Venice.

According to the press release by the Turner Company, “English Magic further explores the artist’s ongoing interest in the diverse nature of British society: its people, myths and folklore as well as its broad cultural, socio-political and economic history.”

John Ruskin’s work, was of course, greatly admired by William Morris, Morris’ work is also shown in the exhibition, “along side material from the era following the break up of the Soviet Union when financial schemes were introduced to a population naive to the extremes of a new market economy.”

We wonder what designs they will show of Morris’ work, our two favourites are Red Strawberry Thief and Lily, shown below.
