Ilkley Manor House was built in the 16th century, or possibly earlier.
Shown below is a detail of the stone mullioned windows with leaded glazing. This is one of the English vernacular styles which inspired the William Morris and the Arts and Crafts architects.
Original inglenook fireplace – a feature which was often adopted and included in designs for Arts and Crafts houses.
Today, the Manor House is a museum with a series of interesting displays about Ilkley from the earliest known human settlement in Mesolithic times to the very recent past.
