Frank Dicksee (1853 – 1928) came from an artistic family. Along with his brother, Herbert Thomas (1862-1942) and sister, Margaret Isabel (1858-1903), Frank was trained in Art by his father, Thomas Francis Dicksee. Their uncle, John Robert Dicksee (1817-1905) was also a painter. Frank Dicksee became a successful artist and illustrator and was a sought-after portrait painter . Eventually he became President of the Frank Dicksee was influenced by William Morris and the PRB and he was a close colleague of Henry Holiday the PRB artist. His paintings Funeral for a Viking and My Lady Fair in Manchester City Art Gallery and Oriental Pastimes in Leeds City Art Gallery are extremely popular and his paintings hang in all of the major galleries in Britain.
