Ian noticed an interesting recent episode of the Antiques Road Trip where the programme visits the Lake District. (BBC iplayer, Episode 16, Series 4). The trip starts in Cockermouth, where William Wordsworth was born in 1770.
The Trip continues to Coniston and explores Brantwood, the home of John Ruskin, William Morris’s great friend and inspiration. Ruskin lived there until his death in 1900. I hope to visit Brantwood this summer, and I am looking forward to having a closer look at the beautiful blue and white drawing room wallpaper which Ruskin designed. Rustin was an avid collector of Turner water colours and they were stored in a lovely cabinet in his study.
The Trip continued to Kirkby Lonsdale (which we have recently visited) and showed St Mary’s Church,(of which I shall be posting more photos soon).
The programme is available on iplayer until 22nd of April.
