Alfred, Lord Tennyson
Alfred Tennyson (1809-1892) became Poet Laureate after William Wordsworth died in 1850. Tennyson was already immensley popular with the Victorian public by the time that William Morris and the members of the PreRaphaelite Brotherhood were young men. Tennyson himself was influenced by John Keats and some of his poems share the classical and medieval themes which were popular with the PreRaphaelites. This caricature is by Carlo Pellegrini.
