There is room at the Buxton Museum which commemorates the life and work of two remarkable men, Sir William Boyd Dawkins (1837-1929) and Dr J Wilfred Jackson (1880-1978). They were eminent, pioneering, geologists who were closely associated with Buxton and Derbyshire. The room contains the library of Sir William Boyd Dawkins and also contains the Victorian scientific equipment that was once in his study.
The room also contains the original furniture, pictures and ornaments from Dawkins’ study and is an interesting representation of an academic’s study from about 1900. It also has William Morris curtains!
